Tour Description: Your Coastal Adventure
We begin at Caesarea Maritima, one of the most important cities ever built in the Land of Israel. Founded by Herod the Great between 22–10 BCE, Caesarea was a marvel of Roman engineering, featuring a man-made deep-water harbor — one of the largest in the ancient world. Walk through the Herodian palace perched dramatically on the sea, the theater still used for concerts today, and the vast hippodrome, where games once thrilled Roman audiences. You’ll also explore the city’s Temple Hill, learn about Caesarea’s role as the capital of Roman Judea, and admire the Crusader fortifications built by King Louis IX of France, with massive walls and a dry moat that still impress visitors today.
Next, we head north to visit Mount Carmel, where we’ll stop at Muhraka, a scenic lookout known for its panoramic views of the Mediterranean coast and the Jezreel Valley.
Our journey continues to Acre (Akko), one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Behind its Ottoman walls lies a treasure trove of Crusader architecture. We’ll explore the Hospitaller Fortress, a vast underground complex built by the Knights of St. John. Then we’ll walk through the Templar Tunnel, a strategic underground passage that once connected the port to the Templar fortress. You’ll visit the Acre Port, see the old khans, and stroll the seaside walls that once welcomed pilgrims and crusaders.

Finally, we arrive at Rosh Hanikra, where white chalk cliffs meet the turquoise sea near Israel’s border with Lebanon. A cable car ride — one of the steepest in the world — takes you down to the grottoes, a stunning natural formation carved by thousands of years of wave action. You’ll also see the remains of the British Mandate-era railway tunnel that once connected Haifa and Beirut!
